How to install uSkinned Site Builder Starter Kits & Themes

Latest compatible version:

uSkinned Site Builder 7.2.1

This guide is for uSkinned Site Builder 2.x (and up) with Umbraco 9.x (and up).

You mustn't continue unless you have installed Umbraco and uSkinned Site Builder and run your website. Running the website for the first time installs the initial demo content which must be in place before you install a starter kit & theme or theme only add-on package.

Before you continue, please make sure you have completed the following steps:

— How to download and install the latest version of Umbraco CMS (9 +).
— How to download and install uSkinned Site Builder with Nuget.

Install Starter Kits & Themes

Since version 7.2, all Starter Kit & Theme add-ons should be installed directly from the uSkinned Dashboard found in the Content section of Umbraco.

Go to the uSkinned Dashboard.

Step 3

Go to the Templates tab.

Step 4

Browse and then Install any Starter Kit or Theme.

Install uSkinned Site Builder add-on templates from inside Umbraco.

Before version 7.2, install all Starter Kit & Theme add-ons via the NuGet command prompt.

From the command line (or Terminal on Mac), stop the project by pressing [CTRL+C]. Now choose whether to install one, two, none or all Theme and Starter Kit packages.

Install Starter Kit & Theme packages

Step 1 — A

If you would like to install each Starter Kit & Theme individually, continue with Step 1 — A, alternatively, if you would like to install all themes in one go then jump to Step 1 — B.

Open the command line in the root directory where you have installed Umbraco CMS and uSkinned Site Builder. Now, run the following command:

dotnet add package uSkinnedSiteBuilder.StarterKit.Shop

The above command will Install the Shop Starter Kit & Theme package. You can install any of our Starter Kit & Theme add-ons this way.

Install Theme only packages

Step 1 — A

If you would like to install each theme individually, continue with Step 1 — A, alternatively, if you would like to install all themes in one go then jump to Step 1 — B.

Open the command line in the root directory of where you have installed Umbraco CMS and uSkinned Site Builder. Now, run the following command:

dotnet add package uSkinnedSiteBuilder.Theme.Arran

The above command will Install Arran Theme, however, you can install any of our themes in this way. Here's the command for each theme:

Step 2

Please wait while each Theme package you require is installed. The command line will run through each part of the process.

Step 3

Now restart your website with the following command:

dotnet run

Step 4

Navigate to the local URL provided by the command line.

The console will output a message similar to:

[10:57:39 INF] Now listening on: https://localhost:44388

The URL will be similar to:

https://localhost:44388

Step 5

Open your preferred browser, navigate to the local URL and log in to the CMS.

Step 6

On the left-hand side tree menu, you can see that your new Starter Kit has been installed.

Now click on the Design node > On the right-hand side you will see that your new Theme Design has also been successfully installed.

uSkinned Site Builder for Umbraco will now be running.

Step 6

On the left-hand side tree menu, you can see that your new Theme content page has been installed as a child page of the Home.

Now click on the Design node. On the right-hand side you will see that your new Theme Design has also been successfully installed.

uSkinned Site Builder for Umbraco will now be running.
