Sometimes when creating content you might find you are adding the same components and structure time and time again. Depending on the size of your site, this repetitive process can be quite time consuming. This is where 'Content Templates' come in!
Content Templates are great, they let you create the structure (including Settings) for a specific page type and then reuse it throughout your website — with the uSkinned Site Builder for Umbraco, this couldn't be easier.
The Scenario
For instance, maybe you have a Team section on your site, with each member of the Team having their own profile page that you can click through too. On the Team Members page, you might have the same 3 or 4 components with the same Settings, only the content changing between each.
Option 1
Step 1
Login to the CMS.
Step 2
In the top navigation, go to the Templates section.
Step 3
From the Quick Create panel, choose a type of Template to create.
Step 4
Add Components, Pods, and Settings as required to your Template — the same as you would when creating new pages or posts.
Step 5
Save the Template.
Step 6
Navigate to the Content section and use your Template to create new content.
Option 2
Step 1
Login to the CMS.
Step 2
In the tree menu on the left-hand side, click to create a new 'Page'.
Step 3
Name your page — you should name it after what you would like the Content Template name to be, for instance, in our example we'll call it 'Team Member Page'.
Add the various components you require, along with their corresponding Settings.
When you're happy, hit 'Save'.
Step 4
In the tree menu, hover over your new 'Page' and right-click on the '...' icon.
Step 5
From the slide-out panel, click "Create Content Template".
Step 6
That's it. Now when you click to create a 'Page' you will see an additional option to choose between a 'Blank' page or a 'Team Member Page'.
Step 1
Login to the CMS.
Step 2
In the top navigation, go to the Templates section.
Step 3
Expand the node type you created your template under (Page, Listing, Shop or Blog Post).
Step 4
Click on the Content Template.
You will now see the page as you would see it in the Content section. Add to or edit the default content in the Content Template using the same modular approach.
Step 5
Save the Content Template.
The next time you use this Content Template it will now adopt the new content you created.

Go to Settings

Expand Content Templates
Step 4
Expand the Page type you created your template under (Page or Blog Post)

Click on the Content Template.
You will now see the page as you would see it in the Content section. Add to or edit the default content in the Content Template using the same modular approach.

Save the Content Template.
The next time you use this Content Template it will now adopt the new content you created.
