How to install Umbraco 7 on Microsoft Azure

Here is a step-by-step guide for installing the latest version of Umbraco 7 ready for you to install your uSkinned theme.

You need a clean install of Umbraco before you can install any uSkinned theme.

In this guide, I'll be using Microsoft Azure, if you're not sure how to create an Azure Account - read this.

Now let's get Umbraco 7 installed in Azure...

NB. Be sure to take a note of any information you enter through out these steps as they will be needed for other steps.

Step 1

Click "New" in the top right of the screen.

Step 2

Search for "Umbraco CMS" in the field provided.

Step 3

Select "Umbraco CMS" from the search results.

Step 4

Click the "Create" button for Umbraco CMS.

Step 5

Name your Web App and create a Resource Group. 

Step 6

Configure your new database settings. 

Step 7

Name your database and select a pricing plan.

Step 8

Configure your target server.

Step 9

Enter a database name and password.

Step 10

Click to "Create" your Web App.

Step 11

Please wait for the Web App to validate.

Step 12

Please wait while your Web App is submitted for deployment.

Step 13

Your Web App is ready. Click to "Browse" to it now.

Step 14

Enter your website details here and then click "Customize".

Step 15

You'll need the information you noted earlier. Select "Microsoft Azure SQL" and input the relevant information from your Azure account.

Step 16

Click "No thanks, I do not want to install a starter website".

Step 17

Please wait as Umbraco CMS completes the installation website.

Step 18

Umbraco CMS has now successfully installed.
